Arthroplasty, especially hip arthroplasty, is claimed to be among the most successful surgical procedures with outstanding outcome, standardized protocols and comprehensive data collection. But a closer look at the femoral stem fixation practice reveals that surgical decision making and patient selection is widely not as evidence based as expected and there might be the chance to further improve outcome.

In cooperation with PALACADEMY^®, the learning and knowledge platform for bone and joint surgery by Heraeus Medical, we take a deeper look at Current concepts in femoral stem fixation and the paradox in clinical practice. Status and experiences from the Netherlands. Moderated by Tim Boymans, Dirk Jan Moojen and Olivier Temmerman will discuss recent data and real-life cases. In cooperation with Mathys/Enovis, we are excited to present a CME accredited TV event on "Current Debates and Hot Topics in Arthroplasty (Session 4)". Enjoy precise live talks, surgical videos and interactive discussions about debatable topics in total joints.

This first half time will deep dive into the long-term effects of high metal ion concentrations for synovial joints, the soft-tissue envelope of large joints, for adjacent bone and for the entire organism and what contributes to corrosion and apply preventive action. Join experts Professor Carsten Perka and Professor Michael Morlock to analyze this topic from both a surgical and engineering point of view.

The second half features Dr. R. Michael Meneghini and Prof. Luigi Zagra explaining the concepts behind outpatient arthroplasty with its advantages and challenges. The panel of international experts will engage in captivating discussions and reflect on their personal preferences on outpatient arthroplasty.
